Manager of Member Analytics & Insights

The responsibility of the Manager of Member Analytics & Insights is to lead a team of campaign analysts to provide in-depth data compilation and analytics in response to specific and often unique questions posed by marketing and other departments.  The team is responsible in the campaign deployment and beck-end ROI analytics of all Membership Acquisition and Member stimulation campaigns. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a recognized expert within the Membership & Analytics team and works on a wide variety of questions about the company's members,  clubs, merchandise, coupons and payment types
  • Hands on management of 3-4 Analysts/Managers working on research and data mining projects on members, coupons, shopping behavior, as well as all outbound Acquisition direct to member effort
  • Develops advanced data queries, tests, evaluates, and adjusts queries for the team
  • Will spearhead streamlining and automating company data analytics using a variety of tools (primarily SAS, MAP INFO, MS Excel) to create & share reports to enhance business decisions 
  • Team produces weekly, monthly quarterly, and annual versions of reports and data files that prove to be helpful to the business on an ongoing basis
  • Interacts with others in Marketing and Merchandise to understand key questions about the business and creates a data approach and extracts key data to help guide strategic decisions Produces the response data to evaluate the ROI of programs and reports on the effectiveness of Marketing tests and campaigns
  • Writes and edits team final reports and recommends potential tests     
  • Maintains our Recency, Frequency, Monetary  (RFM) segmentation of all members, Primary Trading Areas (PTAs) of Zip Codes, BJ's exclusive coupon data table, and other key data files        
  • Key role in leading the company's coupon/offer technology efforts to further engage members        


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience     
  • Must have 10+ years of related experience in program measurement, financial analysis, database marketing, and/or data modeling
  • Experienced with mining and interpreting data and translating complex concepts for non-technical or quantitative team members and senior executives   
  • Uses SAS EG, MS Excel, MapInfo, Unica Model
  • Must have strong organization, communication, and research management skills
